1.Superior Dehumidification Efficiency

Compressor dehumidifiers are much more effective than semiconductor dehumidifiers, with a dehumidifying capacity 39 times greater. You may have previously purchased a semiconductor dehumidifier only to find it almost ineffective. This is why we recommend compressor dehumidifiers: they quickly process large volumes of air, provide better dehumidification, and are highly efficient.

2.What size dehumidifier do I need for my grow room?

This depends on how much water you use. Suppose you are growing 6 plants in a 4×4 grow tent, watering them every 2 days with 1 gallon (8 pints) per plant each time. You can calculate the dehumidifier size as follows:

Step 1: Calculate the total water used each time
6 plants * 1 gallon/plant = 6 gallons
Step 2: Convert gallons to pints
6 gallons * 8 pints/gallon = 48 pints
Step 3: Calculate the average daily dehumidification
48 pints / 2 days = 24 pints/day
Step 4: Consider low temperature and low humidity areas (reduce by 15%)
Basic requirement: 24 pints/day
Adjusted requirement: 24 pints * 0.85 (estimate 15% reduction for low temperature and low humidity)
Adjusted requirement calculation: 24 * 0.85 = 20.4 pints/day
Step 5: Consider high temperature and high humidity areas (increase by 15%)

3.What should the humidity be in a grow room?

While the key to successful growing is VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit), generally, seedlings and clones require high humidity of 70-75%. As plants grow, gradually reduce humidity to 50-70%. During flowering, further reduce humidity to 40-50% and maintain this range until harvest.
All indoor growing systems benefit from a dehumidifier, but it is especially important for hydroponic systems. Proper ventilation also helps control humidity, so make sure to install fans or blowers.

Water Full Alert: When the water tank is full, the dehumidifier will automatically stop and display a red “Water Full” icon both in the app and on the unit. This prevents any further operation until the tank is emptied, ensuring no increase in humidity. Once the tank is emptied, the dehumidifier will automatically resume its operation without any manual intervention.
Drying Function: The ideal humidity range for drying is 45-55%. While regular dehumidifiers speed up the drying process, they often cause a loss of flavor, potency, and overall enjoyment. Our dehumidifier allows you to set it to Low Speed, providing a slow, low-temperature drying process that preserves the quality of your flowers during the drying phase.

5.Other factors to consider

If your room is sealed and equipped with an air conditioner, the air conditioner will remove some moisture. Check how many pints of moisture your air conditioner removes daily and subtract this amount from your daily dehumidification needs.

Expert Tips

Since the GGS power strip is already connected to the GGS temperature and humidity light sensor, please unplug the built-in sensor from your dehumidifier when connecting it to the power strip. This ensures that all environmental devices plugged into the strip work together to achieve a unified environmental goal.

I did not realise how good this dehumidifier was going to be. Even though this dehumidifier is recommended for up to a 5×5 tent, I’m using it to dry out a 4×8 tent. This is not a problem as I don’t pack the tents tightly, but your mileage may vary. Usually lots of leaves means a lot of transpiration but this humidifier handles it well. The RJ12 connection means you can also control everything from the app via the GGS.

A couple of things to look out for:

I like to run negative air pressure in the tent to ensure no smells escape into the house. This humidifier shifts a lot of air (even on low) and will inflate a tent like a balloon, blowing the smells out of every vent or tiny gap. Make sure the tent extraction fan with the filter is running at a speed that balances the dryer out when it’s running.

Another would be that on humid days, this humidifier can create a lot of water, easily filling the inboard container in a day. The obvious solution to this is to use the provided external drain pipe. I have mine running into a 15ltr bucket that was holding plant food. Important to remember that if you use the drainpipe, make sure the pipe outlet is lower than the dehumidifier outlet. There’s an instruction manual included that explains this better.

Lastly, there is a shroud that connects the air duct to the dehumidifier. It is not obvious in the manual but the snap-fit hooks are fitted into the outermost gap of the air outlet. Don’t do what I did and try to force them into the next gap in. Yeah, and if the shroud covers the controls, it’s the wrong way around.

I like this dehumidifier very much and wish I had bought one when I started indoor growing. It’s made a lot of problems associated with high humidity disappear.

This unit works very well, and I like how the design lets you sit this unit outside your tent, saving you a lot of floor space. (Talking to you 4×2 tent growers like me.) It grabs the outside air and dries it before blowing it into the tent. The included sensor (that you hang inside the tent) is what helps the unit automatically turn on and off when in use. What I really love is that it works well plugged into a smart plug. My only complaint is the air outlet hose is a little thin.

This little thing does its JOB!! I use it in my grow tent, and I was having big issues with humidity and moisture. This dehumidifier has helped SIGNIFICANTLY! The temperature is down AND the air feels much drier.

It pulls SO much water out of the air in my tent!! I love that it shuts off automatically when it gets full, so I never have to worry about it.

I love this dehumidifier and I’m glad I got it for my tent.

Could not believe how quite this unit actually is, duct on onto would be better designed if it was off the back/side of the dehumidifier apart from that super easy to put together as well as having out outside the tent is great for space issues
